After
we have designed your website, it then needs to be uploaded to
the Hosting Server. A "server" is
just another name for a computer (but a very expensive,
high-speed computer), whose purpose is just to sit there and
"serve" files 24hrs a day to people requesting
them (surfing the internet).
"Hosting"
means the act of storing your web site files in a server
for the purpose of making your web site available to the entire
world. It is similar to renting an
apartment in a building. The hosting server is the
"apartment building" and your web site is the
"apartment".
One
more thing: That server must be connected to the internet in
order for the rest of the world to be able to find it and see
it, so
there
must also be a connection to the internet. This has to be
an extremely fast connection so that it can handle multiple
requests at once.
Like
the landlord of an apartment building, the owner of such a
hosting server needs to collect rent for the service of letting
your web site take up space on his server and for the use of his
high-speed connection, so therefore hosting services charge
customers rent for hosting their websites on their servers and
for connecting their web sites to the internet so other people
can see them.
Now
that you understand all that is involved, we hope you will
appreciate all the services we provide and how easy and
affordable the whole thing becomes when we put it all together
for you in one place.
